Introduction to the basic process of machine tool protective cover processing

19 Sep 2023

After the welding of the outer protective cover of the machine tool is completed, the appearance of the welding must be confirmed to ensure that there are no missing welds or missing welds. There should be no large welds in each welding part, and the edges must be neat and polished.

The sheet metal workshop must measure the dimensions of each weldment before welding to determine the thickness of the material during welding. During welding, make sure that the edges are neatly aligned, determine the overall dimensions, conduct first-piece inspection, and strive to solve problems found during welding in a timely manner. The welding seam must be tight and uniform, with no leakage or false welding. The more open the welding phenomenon after welding, the more customer requirements are met. It is stipulated here that the gap between the solder joints during welding should be about 40mm, and the solder joints should be between two objects. between them, the solder joints are uniform in size.

Because the rear protection needs to be combined with the electrical box, it is required that the rear protection be flat without warping, so as to avoid gaps between the electrical box and the rear protection. When welding the sides of the side windows and doors with medium protection, the protective cover must be tightly attached to prevent leaks. The solder joints need to be polished. If the solder joints are too large, they will affect the appearance. After the chassis and water tank are welded, make sure there is no water leakage. After welding, use kerosene for testing, and all leaking places must be repaired and smoothed due to welding deformation, especially the front part of the chassis must be made sure to be flat.

The processes of plate processing include shearing, riveting, bending, welding, bending, etc. However, the specific process flows of sheet metal parts with different structures are also different. So what is the basic process for processing the outer protective cover of machine tools?
1. Make an overall plan for each sheet metal part for external protection of the machine tool, disassemble the drawings as needed, and make an overall plan as needed.

2. Draw according to the specific skills of sheet metal processing parts.

3. Then create an open diagram, that is, CNC programming.

4. Next, perform blanking or punching operations, perform the required laser cutting, then bend the cut parts, and perform riveting operations on the sheet metal processing parts.

5. Welding sheet metal processing parts.

6. Beautify the appearance of sheet metal processing parts, such as spraying or electroplating.

7. Pack and ship the components of the outer protective cover of the machine tool as required.
